Shoe Unboxing
Post Christmas and January Blues only means
one thing…a little retail therapy! And I like nothing more than online
shopping.
Now yes, some say nothing beats the feeling
of going into a shop, browsing the vast selection of rails in search for
something new that will perk you right up, and don’t get me wrong I love it!
But on the grey, dismal days we’ve been having lately, there is nothing better
than googling you’ve favourite stores and placing a little online order.
This is exactly what I did a little less
than a week ago, possible due to the depression I was suffering from because
the Christmas decorations had been taken down (I adore Christmas!) And of
course the only way to make me feel remotely happy was to splurge!
(I joke of course! As much as I love
Christmas, I was really happy to see in the new year and hopefully2014 will be
an exciting year?!)
Story time
However, there was method to my madness..
while I was visiting my grandmas after Christmas (a yearly tradition) I saw
some beautiful shoes in Office. They were a bronzey metallic colour, had a
pointed toe and came to the ankle. They
were truly lovely!- Office Metallic Ankle Boots
I did try them on but unfortunately, unlike
Cinderella, they didn’t fit! I just could get them on! And I did try. A lot. It
must have been quite a sight to the other people in Office at the time.
But alas, due to it being a Christmas Sale,
they had no other sizes. I’m a size5 and the only other size they had was an 8.
I couldn’t pull that off!
So I left Office disheartened! (Yes, I’m
incredible dramatic when it comes to fashion and getting what I want) They were
so nice I couldn’t stop thinking about them and spent the majority of that
night googling them- where else I could get them, when Office would get them
back in stock, similar pairs for a similar price! No luck!
So it wasn’t until last week when I was on
the Topshop website that I came across these lovely creatures-
Originally priced at £95, I first saw them
on the website for £45. I thought this was a pretty reasonable price,
especially for Topshop! But there was something holding me back from getting
them. Whether it was the fact I’m meant to be a penniless student who shouldn’t
be buy boots that are almost fifty quid, or the fact that I might possibly be
in a bit of a whirlwind romance with some, if not any, metallic shoe I find! No
matter the reason I resisted, as hard as it was.
A Happy Ending
However, never one to miss a bargain I went
back to the Topshop website the next day to peruse the sales yet again. I came
across the boots again. And to my surprise they had been reduce to £30! Well
that was it, I was sold. SOLD! They were bought and paid for within minutes,
and so the countdown began to them arriving in my local store. (Best was to spend
as little money as possible- free in-store delivery) AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY
EVER AFTER !
Well I’ve not worn them outside yet, or for
longer than ten minutes but I’m sure it will be a match made in heaven! I do
have a pretty bad rep with shoe (prone to blister but the less said about those
the better!) but I just see it was a right of passage… and no one wants to get
to the age when they’re buying shoes for comfort! (don’t, I’ll have
nightmares!) So I’ll see how I get on but they look great and make me feel
great, so nothing else matters.
First impressions were great! They look
amazing quality and although I would never in a million years have paid £95
(it’s just not in my budget) I can see why they were originally that price.
Which make me feel great about paying £30!
My first thought was about the colour. I’m
not sure if it’s really been picked up in the photos but they are a kind of
pewter colour. Somewhere in the middle of a silvery/grey and grey/green colour.
It’s beautiful.
Second thought was about the silver
hardware details on the toe and on the heel. I think its such as cool idea and I
can just imagine them capturing the sunlight and gleaming subtly.
They are made from real leather (for which
I have a huge love) and they smell amazingly awesome too! This does make them
quite stiff and a little difficult to get on AT FIRST! But persist, they just
need a stretching. Finally, I really like the top stitch detail on them. I
think this makes them look quite expensive but I also think it makes them look
a little rougher and less polished in terms of their finish. I love this!
I’d describe them as a cross between a
Chelsea boot and a cowboy boot. I think they’d look awesome with an all black
outfit and some different texture to mix things up! I’d give them a 9/10 (never
aware full marks because nothing is perfect, life rule #1) – BUY THEM HERE
