Every Sunday from 9:30 -4, a variety of Newcastle traders gather on the picturesque Quayside for the weekly market. This popular event happens all year round and is a great place for locals and tourist to find a range of stalls selling everything, from homeware goods to bespoke, hand-crafted gifts, freshly baked cakes and bread, and food from around the world.
Although I have lived in Newcastle for over
a year now, I have never been to the Quayside market before, despite wanting to
go for a long time and living very close. Regretting that I didn’t go during
the spring/summer, when the weather is much nicer, I had a great day!
The smells are to die for! Not only are the
sellers incredibly friendly, is there so much choice of fresh food, something
for everyone! It really is the perfect place for anyone interested in trying
different cuisines for a really good price.
It is something I am really going to try to
make weekly visits to, as I think the variety in stalls will depend on the availability
of trader, and the weather of course!
After briefly researching the Quayside
Market before going, I came across the stall prices for aspiring sellers. I was
pleasantly surprise at the price of a meter wide pitch, and this got me
thinking about maybe enquiring about a stall in order to do some selling, to
earn some cash! Although I have no idea what I could sell, and whether it would
be desired by anyone, being a fashion student must come in handy at this point,
right? I have to give it a think.
This topped off a lovely weekend of family,
shopping, cocktails and a free dinner (whoop!) I would highly encourage anyone
to give the Newcastle quayside a visit at anytime, as the views are beautiful
and it is full of culture, but I would also recommend a trip to the Sunday
market!
Apologies for not posting in a while, and
for the contents of this post being quiet minimal, but I am just getting back
into blogging again. I hope to be posting much more, work permitting, and
whether I can’t be bothered!
